INTERESTS: Yep, I'm a bit of a nerd (although after following those links I'm not sure I can live up to it). I design and build electronics to run WIMP detectors for the CDMS experiment. At first I wasn't sure which end of the soldering iron to grab but I think I've got that down, now. Or at least I have some good calluses built up.

I also do a little plumbing, carpentry, and electrical at home, but I won't go near gas lines or the brakes on the family car. I don't want to push it too far.

Once upon a time I wrote shareware for the GEOS operating system on the Commodore 64. Remember those? I used to get a check every year or so from Germany or somewhere, which was fun, but for some reason those have stopped arriving...
I still have my C64 in a box in the basement, and an emulator on my G4 Mac which runs GEOS. Way faster than the C64 ever ran it!
